Sometimes saying no will not only save you time, but money! This week's 52 week challenge ways to save money tip focusing on saying no!

52 Ways To Save Money – Week 52: Learn to Say No

Learning to say no is one of the most fundamental ways a person can save money. I have talked about it in previous week’s tips in specific situations such as playing the waiting game before a purchase, but this kind of saying no has to do with your time, which is ultimately, your money. No one can afford to stretch themselves too thin. It never works and often leads to more spending.

Here are some ways saying no helps you save money:

You will have to buy less gifts. Often, we get invited to so many events that require a gift that it can put a strain on our budgets. These events include weddings, birthday parties, housewarming parties and holiday get-togethers. Saying no to some of these things doesn’t mean you have to choose not to have a social life or make people feel bad, either. It is simply a matter of being extra choosy. You don’t have to attend things like your child hood friend whom you haven’t spoken to in 20 year’s son’s wedding. Just chose which events mean the most and go from there.

You will eat out less. Stretching ourselves thin in time often leads to hitting the drive-thru. Say no to some things if it will be a crunch for your time and is not a requirement and stay home to cook.

You will spend less on gas. If you do a lot of running around, it will eat up your gas budget fast. Not to mention, the wear and tear on your vehicle. Less obligations means more time your car stays parked.
