Menu Planning Monday: Week 3
It’s Monday! It was a pretty productive day for me, which included putting together my menu for the week!
Did you know that planning your meals will save you some BIG money on your grocery bill?
It’s about changing the way you shop. It’s not about going to the store with the list of things you need/want. But looking in your pantry and planning your meals around your stockpile.
Most of the time I plan my menu for about 2 weeks based on how we’re paid. However I am still putting together next’s week menu and I will post/update when I’m finished.
If you need Menu Planning tools, I have quite a few of them posted here that you can check out!
If you need some recipe ideas, be sure to check out what I have posted here!
So here’s my menu for this week:
*Always include a fresh salad
Sunday: Easy meal of Spaghetti (w/ hamburger meat) with fresh peppers and onions ( no cost, I had everything)
Monday: Nacho Night (doritos, hamburger meat, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cheese)- no cost, I had everything. ( I also had leftover Spaghetti that was fed to a picky eater that doesn’t like Nacho night)
Chicken Taco Casserole (chicken, black beans, sour cream, diced tomatoes, cream of chicken)- no cost I have everything
Change of plans- we had crab cakes, wild rice and peas. ( crab cakes were $5 bucks that I purchased last weekend from Kroger)
(if I make a big pot, then we will have leftovers) if not, then Penne Pasta & Smoked Sausage
*Change of plans– Chicken (crockpot) with tomatoes, peppers and onions. Along with sweet potatoes, mac & cheese and a salad
Leftovers of Penne Pasta & Smoked Sausage ( no cost- I have everything)
*change of plans- Chicken Casserole- you can find that recipe here, for the Budget-friendly Chicken Casserole (and I have everything for it)
Friday: We usually have Pizza- Dominos or Little Ceasars- there is a coupon code for 50% for Dominos (Ordering Pizza from Domino’s soon?? Save 50% off any menu priced pizza with the coupon code 9413. Valid until 1/19) However we are on a spending strike this week, so we may not order out– if not then I will get a Frozen Pizza (will spend about $5-6 bucks for 2 Frozen Pizzas. I usually have these in my stockpile but we have went through all of them and I am just buying as needed until I score a really good deal)
Saturday: We will be out of town– so you know what that means! eating out– but I hope to utilize coupon apps while on the road and still save!
And that’s my Meal planning for the week! Not counting the weekend, I will spend about $6 bucks on the above meals.
So what I am buying from the store? Mostly going to Horrock’s to get fresh veggies just to have on hand. I also will plan to continue to buy items to add to the stockpile. You will be able to see my grocery trips posted here
