Meijer Coupon Policy

Meijer Coupon Policy

Here’s the latest coupon policy from Meijer:

Check and up-to-date as of 1/20/2019

Keep in mind that

  • You cannot double coupons at Meijer (effective 3/31/2013)
  • You can NO LONGER stack a store competitor coupon with a Manufacturer coupon at Meijer **this policy update happened in April 2018
  • You can stack a Meijer store coupon with a manufacturer (when applicable)
  • You cannot stack Meijer mperk digital coupons with manufacturer coupons. The system will make you pick the digital coupon or the paper coupon if you attempt to pick both
  • You CAN stack a Meijer mPerk that is a STORE coupon with a Manufacturer coupon.
  • You CAN stack a Meijer mPerk that is a STORE coupon along with a mPerk coupon that is a manufacturer coupon.
  • You can only use 2 LIKE COUPONS per transaction. Meijer can also limit you from doing back-to-back transactions.  **policy update happened in April 2018.
  • Individual manufacturer coupons over $5 in value must be redeemed at a staffed checkout lane. Manufacturer coupons presented at self-checkout are limited to $5.

meijer coupon policy
Meijer accepts manufacturer, Catalina manufacturer, Meijer, Catalina Meijer, mPerks, internet within certain guidelines.

  • Coupons must be presented on or before the expiration date
  • All coupon terms and conditions must be met and validated by the checkout register
  • Customers may use one manufacturer coupon (paper or digital) per item.
  • Customers may also combine one manufacturer coupon per item with applicable Meijer coupon(s) where allowed under coupon redemption terms.
  • Transactions cannot be broken up to avoid coupon stacking restrictions
  • Separate checklanes will not be opened or designated for customers with large coupon orders
  • Manufacturer coupons and Catalina manufacturer coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax on the full retail amount
  • Meijer, Catalina Meijer, and competitor coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax only on the discounted price
  • Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area, for Grocery and or for Health and Beauty Care items {Meijer no longer accepts competitor coupons –
  • Meijer does not acceptcompetitor coupons intended for redemption at other retailers.}
  • Meijer will accept coupons from major competitors in each store’s trading area for General Merchandise items only if the competitor’s price point is included. The item must be the identical item on the coupon for the match to occur.
  • Meijer does not accept competitor coupons for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, double and triple coupons, clearance, percent off, total transaction discounts, special promotions, gift card promotions, limited quantity items, mail-in rebate offers, and going out of business sales
  • Meijer reserves the right to limit coupon quantities and to determine the order of application of multiple coupons and/or promotions

Here’s a break down of what that means:
• Coupons must be presented on or before the expiration date

This means you can not use an expired coupon.

• All coupon terms and conditions must be met and validated by the checkout register

This means that you can not use a coupon for something it does not allow. For example: if the coupon says it is valid for 9-12oz and you scanned a 12.2oz, you can not use the coupon. If it says the coupon is valid for an amount off 2 items, you can not use it to purchase just one.

• Customers may use one manufacturer coupon (paper or digital) per item.

Pretty basic. You can’t use two manufacturer coupons on a single item.

• Customers may also combine one manufacturer coupon per item with applicable Meijer coupon(s) where allowed under coupon redemption terms.

As long as the mPerks coupons don’t restrict the stack, you can.

You must now read the terms on the mPerks coupons. Some of them will now state that they cannot be combined with any other coupon or limit one coupon per item. If it only states that it cannot be combined with any other Meijer Discount Coupons, you are still allowed to combine it with a Manufacturer coupon.

• Transactions cannot be broken up to avoid coupon stacking restrictions.

Per an email response I received from Meijer, this applies to not breaking up orders to get extra doubles in the regions that double. They made no mention of not being able to do multiple transactions otherwise. This also applies to trying to use several like coupons back to back.

• Separate check lanes will not be opened or designated for customers with large coupon orders

They won’t open an extra lane for you if you have lots of coupons. (Though I think it is strange that they wrote out this rule, I think the non-coupon users are the ones who will be more upset about it. I’m still going to use my coupons.)

• Manufacturer coupons and Catalina manufacturer coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax on the full retail amount

If you buy Shampoo for $1.00 and the state charges $.06 sales tax and you have a $1.00/1 coupon, you must pay the $.06 sales tax. Catalina manufacturer coupons are the ones that are OYNSO and say something like “Courtesy of Kellogg’s” on them.

• Meijer, Catalina Meijer, and competitor coupons require the Customer to pay sales tax only on the discounted price

If you buy Shampoo for $3.00 and you have a $2.00 OYNSO Custom Coupon Offer (“Courtesy of Meijer”), you pay just $1.06, the amount remaining after coupon + tax on the remaining amount.

  • Meijer does not accept competitor coupons intended for redemption at other retailers.

This means Meijer will not accept OTHER store coupons. They used to accept them, but no longer accepts other competitor coupons.

• Meijer does not accept competitor coupons for beer, wine, liquor, cigarettes, double and triple coupons, clearance, percent off, total trans- action discounts, special promotions, gift card promotions, limited quantity items, mail-in rebate offers, and going out of business sales

No use of non item specific Register Rewards, Extra Care Bucks, UP Rewards or the like. However, if you get a coupon from the Catalina machine at Walgreens that is for $3.00 off 1 Huggies, you should be able to use it. Also, no $5/$25 or the like will be allowed.

• Meijer reserves the right to limit coupon quantities and to determine the order of application of multiple coupons and/or promotions

Meaning that you can plan, but they determine in what order they scan them if they want. There is also a 2 LIKE coupon limit per transaction.

Just so I understand – if I get a $2.00 OYNO from Kroger, I can use this at Meijer towards my order? I prefer Meijer shopping but sometimes we go to Kroger. I hate having to go back JUST so that coupon doesn’t expire. 🙁 Thanks in advance!

You are buying one- and using the coupon to pay for the one that you are buying. The other one is free as part of Meijer’s promotion- so that’s how you would score two for free. Great deal!

Hello. I was wondering what the policy is for meijer if the coupon exceeds the price of the product?

Meijer will reduce the coupon to match the price of the item. Meijer doesn’t usually give overage.

What is the policy for B2G1 free sale and using a B1G1 free coupon?

As long as you are paying for 1 item you should get the 2 products for free. Meijer doesn’t allow the use of a coupon on a FREE item. So if the sale was buy 1 get 1 free you couldn’t use the buy 1 get 1 FREE coupon but since it is buy 2 get 1 free you should be ok.

The 4th for says you cannot use Meijer perks coupon with a manufacturer coupon

Yes, because most of the mPerk digital offer ARE manufacturer coupons. Every once in a while a mPerk offer is a store coupon, then you could stack them. But 90% of the time, they are manufacturer coupons.
