For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!  You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Meijer Meal Planning Week 9/13 : 6 Meals Under $44

Autumn is upon us and with that comes some really great home cooked meals that don’t take a whole lot of time to prepare.  Meijer has great sales this week to help you feed your family and keep some green in your pocket!

Meal 1: Autumn Brats with Steamed Potatoes and Broccoli  $7.71

  • 1 pkg Johnsonville Brats
  • 1 C Old Orchard Apple juice
  • 2 Gingergold apples, cored and sliced
  • 2.5 lbs Klondike Rose potatoes, scrubbed and cubed
  • butter (pantry)
  • 2 Broccoli crowns.

Directions:  Place the brats and apple juice in a saute pan and cover.  Heat over medium heat and cook 20-25 minutes, until the skins start to break and the center is no longer pink.  Add in the sliced apples and cook for an additional 5 minutes.  While the brats are cooking, place the potatoes in a pot and cover with water.  Sprinkle liberally with salt and bring to a boil.  Boil until potatoes are tender. Drain and dot with butter.  Place the broccoli in a pan and add ½ C water.  Cover and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes or until broccoli has reached desired doneness.  Serve hot.

 

Meal 2: Fresh Spinach Salad with Roasted Chicken $5.97

  • 1 ½ lb boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 bag New Star baby spinach
  • 1 yellow pepper, diced
  • ½ greenhouse cucumber, sliced
  • ½ pkg grape tomatoes, cut in half
  • salad dressing of your choice (pantry)

Directions: Place the chicken in a shallow baking dish.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper, cover with foil, and bake in a 375°F oven for 1 hour, until no pink remains in the chicken and it’s tender.  Remove from oven and allow to cool until it’s able to be touched.  Cut or shred the chicken.  Mix the vegetables, top with the chicken, and serve with dressing.

 

Meal 3:  Potato Crusted Tilapia with Steamed Carrots and Rice  $6.55

  • 1 lb frozen tilapia
  • 1 cup Idahoan 4 Cheese Mashed Potatoes (and ingredients per package)
  • 1 bag baby carrots
  • 1 pkg Knorr Rice Sides (and ingredients per package)

Directions:  Thaw the tilapia and pat dry with paper towels.  Place on a greased baking sheet.  Prepare the potatoes per the package and spread over the fish.  Bake in a 400°F oven for 7-10 minutes, until fish flakes easily with a fork.  While the fish is baking, place the carrots in a saucepan and add ¼ C water.  Cover and bring to a simmer for 4-5 minutes.  Drain and dot with butter, if desired.  Prepare the rice as directed on the package. Serve hot.

 

Meal 4: Country Ribs with Fries $8.77

  • 3 lbs Country Style Ribs
  • 1 bottle barbecue sauce, any variety
  • 1 bag Ore Ida fries, any style

Directions:  Place the ribs in a crockpot and cover with barbecue sauce.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Prepare the fries according to the package directions.

 

Meal 5:  Turkey Mac  $6.99

  • 1 pkg Jennie-O Ground turkey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 2 cans Meijer petite diced tomatoes
  • 2 T oregano (pantry)
  • salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 1 box Meijer green box pasta, elbow macaroni

Directions:   Brown the turkey and drain.  Add in the tomatoes, garlic, salt, and pepper; simmer 20 minutes until sauce turns thick.  Cook the pasta as directed and mix with the sauce.  Stir well and serve with parmesan, if desired.

 

Meal 6: Crockpot Chili $8.99

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)
  • 2 lg cans Meijer tomato sauce
  • 3 cans Bush’s dark kidney beans
  • 2 T chili powder (pantry)

Directions:  Brown the ground beef and onion and drain.  Place in a large crockpot with remaining ingredients.  Stir, cover and set to low for 6-8 hours. Serve hot with your favorite accompaniments.

You can make these six wonderful homemade meals for a mere $43.98!  What a great way to keep your family fed and still have money and time leftover!
