For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Back to school is in full swing, and Meijer has everything you need for easy meals on school nights.  Check out these great meals that keep things fresh!

 

Meal 1:  Greek Steak and Salad  $9.00

  • 1 lb eye of round steaks
  • 1 pk Dole Salad Blend
  • 1 pkg grape tomatoes, cut in half
  • 1 greenhouse cucumber, sliced
  • 3 oz Nikos crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 C olive oil (pantry)
  • 1 T garlic powder (pantry)
  • 1 T dried basil (pantry)
  • 2 t black pepper (pantry)
  • 2 t salt (pantry)
  • 2 t onion powder (pantry)
  • 2 t Dijon mustard (pantry)
  • 1 ⅓ C apple cider vinegar (pantry)

Directions:  Mix the oil, seasonings, mustard, and vinegar in a bowl.  Place half of it in a plastic zippy bag along with the steaks.  Marinate several hours or overnight in the refrigerator.  Grill or broil to desired doneness then allow to rest for 10 minutes.  Place the remaining ingredients in a bowl and toss with the remaining dressing.  Serve in bowls and top with thinly sliced steak.

Meal 2:  Sweet & Sour Sausage  $6.51

  • 1 pkg Hillshire Farms smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 can Meijer chunk pineapple in juice
  • 1 green pepper, chunked
  • 1 red pepper, chunked
  • 2 C rice (pantry)
  • 4 C water (pantry)

Directions:  Place the rice and water in a saucepan; cover and bring to a simmer for 20 minutes.  While the rice is cooking, saute the sausage until it starts to brown.  Add the peppers.  Drain the pineapple, reserving the juice, and add to the pan.  Saute until browned.  Add about half the juice to the pan and reduce by half.  Serve over the rice.

Meal 3:  Chicken Broccoli Bake  $5.47

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cubed
  • 2 lb fresh broccoli, chopped
  • 2 cans Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup

Directions:  Mix all the ingredients in a large casserole dish.  Cover and bake in a 350°F for 1 hour, until the broccoli is tender, and the chicken is no longer pink in the middle.

Meal 4:  Slow Cooker Italian Spare Ribs with Pasta  $6.24

  • 1 lb spare ribs
  • 1 jar Prego Farmer’s Market Pasta Sauce
  • 1 box Barilla pasta, any variety

Directions:  Place the spare ribs and pasta sauce in a slow cooker.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Prepare the pasta as directed. Top with sauce and ribs.

Meal 5:  Barbecue Burgers and Fries  $7.77

  • 1 ½ lb ground beef
  • 4 Meijer hamburger buns
  • 4 slices Cracker Barrel Asiago cheese
  • ½ bottle Kraft barbecue sauce
  • 1 bag OreIda fries

Directions:  Form the ground beef into 4 patties.  Grill, broil, or pan fry to desired doneness, basting with the barbecue sauce throughout the cooking process.  Top with cheese and place in the buns.  Prepare the fries as directed on the package.

Meal 6:  Deconstructed Cabbage Rolls  $4.41

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 onions, chopped (pantry)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 3 lbs green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 14.5 oz can Meijer Naturals diced tomatoes

Directions:  Brown the ground beef, onions, and garlic in a stock pot.  When no pink remains, add the cabbage and tomatoes with juice.  Cover and simmer 20 minutes, until cabbage is tender.  Serve with crusty bread, if desired.
