For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price.

Spring has definitely sprung and it’s time to make some delicious meals as we head into spring cleaning season.  Here are six delicious meals that will soon be favorites.

Meal 1:  Roasted Chicken with Kale and Rice $8.40

  • 1 whole chicken, about 5 lbs
  • 1 bunches Kale, rinsed and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic (pantry)
  • 2 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 1 pkg Knorr rice side dish (+ingredients per directions)

Directions:  Rinse the chicken and place in a roasting pan.  Sprinkle inside and out, liberally, with salt and pepper.  Cover with foil and place in a 350°F oven for 2 ½ hours.  Uncover and turn oven up to 425°F for 10 minutes, until the skin is brown and crispy.  Prepare the rice according to the package directions.  Heat a saute pan over medium heat.  Add the olive oil, garlic, and kale.  Saute for about 5 minutes, until the kale is tender and wilted.

Meal 2:  Burgers with Fresh Tomato Cucumber Salad  $8.92

  • 1 ½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 pkg Ball Park hamburger buns
  • 1 lb green house tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 greenhouse cucumber, sliced thin
  • 1 vidalia onion, sliced thin
  • ¼ C olive oil (pantry)
  • ¼ C red wine or cider vinegar (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (pantry)

Directions:  Form the ground beef into 4 patties and cook as desired (grill, bake, pan fry).  Serve in the buns with your favorite toppings.  Place the remaining ingredients in a bowl and toss to coat.  Season with the salt and pepper as desired.

Meal 3: Tilapia Scampi with Pasta  $4.89

1 pkg Meijer frozen tilapia, thawed and patted dry

1 stick butter, melted (pantry)

3 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)

1 lemon, sliced (pantry)

1 pkg Meijer Pasta Sauce

1 pkg Meijer Green Box pasta, any variety

Directions:  Place the tilapia in a baking dish and sprinkle with garlic.  Pour butter over the top and lay the lemon slices over.  Bake in a 350°F oven for 15-20 minutes, until fish flakes easily with a fork.  Heat the pasta sauce in a small pot over medium heat.  Prepare the pasta as directed on the package.

Meal 4:  Barbecue Roast with Mashers and Roasted Broccoli $11.98

  • 2 lb chuck roast
  • 1 C barbecue sauce
  • 1 C teriyaki sauce
  • 2 lbs red potatoes, cubed
  • Butter and milk for mashers (pantry)
  • 2 crowns of broccoli, cut into florets
  • Olive oil for drizzle (pantry)

Directions:  Place the roast, barbecue sauce, and teriyaki sauce in a slow cooker.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  About 40 minutes before serving, place the potatoes in a pot and cover with water.  Boil for 20-30 minutes, until potatoes are tender.  Mash with butter and milk to desired consistency.  Place the broccoli on a rimmed baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.  Bake in a 425°F oven for 20 minutes, turning halfway through, until broccoli is crisp-tender.

Meal 5: Sunday Roasted Pork Shoulder with Rice and Honey Roasted Baby Carrots  $8.71

  • 4 lb Pork Shoulder Butt
  • 3 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 1 pkg Knorr rice (+ingredients per directions)
  • 1 pkg baby carrots
  • 1 T butter (pantry)
  • 1 T honey (pantry)

Directions:  Place the pork in a roasting pan.  In a small bowl, mix the garlic and olive oil; brush on the pork.  Cover with foil and roast about 4 hours, until a thermometer inserted into the center reads 185°F.  Remove from oven and allow to rest.  Prepare the rice per package directions.  Place the butter in a saute pan over medium high heat.  Once melted, add the carrots and saute, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 minutes, until carrots are tender.  Remove to a platter or bowl and drizzle with honey.

Meal 6:  Pulled Pork with Chips  $3.18

  • 4 C leftover pork shoulder, shredded
  • 1 C teriyaki sauce (pantry)
  • 1 pkg Ball Park buns
  • 1 bag Meijer chips

Place the pork in a small slow cooker and stir in the teriyaki sauce.  Cover and set to low for 3 hours.  Serve on buns with chips on the side.

Six mouth-watering meals this week will cost only $46.08!
