August Savings Guide- What’s On Sale, Clearance, Freebies & More!

Each month there are certain deals and savings you can get that will help stretch your dollars even more! For an example, getting back to school deals and snacks will be great to score this month!

This is my guide to what to buy, what’s on clearance, and what’s in season in the month of June. Its helps you to understand the monthly grocery August sale cycle as well as other promotional cycles.  Planning ahead is the best way to save.

 

Items you’ll find on clearance in August:

  • Gardening  supplies
  • Seeds for planting (they’ll last about 2 yrs)
  •  Summer apparel and summer toys & outdoor furnishing start to go on sale towards months end

A good time to buy in August:

  • School supplies ( on sale)- check our Back to school section listed here!
  • Office supplies (on sale)
  • Juice boxes & pouches, lunch items like sandwich meats, lunch snacks, cereals bars, pudding cups, granola bars, fruit snacks, canned fruit, sandwich cheese slices- be sure to check our store deals to find the best deals this week!
  • Breakfast foods like cereals, oatmeal etc
  • Tissues, disinfectants, hand sanitizers, sanitizing wipes
  • Ice cream, popsicles

  • strawberries, kiwi, plum
  • blueberries,  apricots
  • raspberries, radish
  • cantaloupe, apples
  • asparagus, avocados
  • basil, beets, cabbage
  • carrots, peppers, okra
  • lemons,   grapefruits
  • oranges, collards, pears
  • grapes, kale, onion
  • nectarines, passion fruit
  • peaches, potatoes
  • cucumbers, tomatoes squash
  • corn, beans eggplant, lettuce, figs

Consider “pick your own” farms to stock up on inexpensive fruit and vegetables for summer canning & freezing

  • Sign up for newsletters & emails from your favorite restaurants and businesses using a separate new email address you create just for deals & savings
  • Keep coupons for dining out in your purse or wallet- you can check our latest coupons and deals for Restaurant coupons and savings!
  • Build up a 6 month stockpile;
  • Buy enough  food & toiletries when on sale at their rock bottom sale price for each person in your family  so you don’t run out (when you “need” a product you’ll be wiling to pay full price – don’t let that happen)
  • •Many states offer a tax free holiday for back to school shopping  – check with your local Dept of taxation for your state
  • •Close blinds during direct sun hours to conserve on cooling costs
  • •Shop  with a specific grocery list based on sales & start meal planning for a busy back to school schedule (quick meals for busy nights, easy breakfast foods etc)
