We all know the holidays are a busy time, especially for Moms. We have so much to do to get ready for all of the festivities, gifts to buy, parties to plan, cookies to bake and so much more. This is also the time of year where it’s easy to blow your budget. As a busy, working mom of three boys, I sometimes struggle with keeping it all together. Running kids to and from school, basketball practices, games, after-school activities, planning a birthday party, and getting ready for the holidays can be a lot.

However, there are a few things I like to do help save my sanity and keep me on a budget during the holiday season.

Make a list and check it out twice. I keep a running list of things I need to do. I keep this list on my phone, but I also keep sticky notes handy around the house. It’s important to be organized in every way, or you will forget things, spend more money than necessary, and find yourself wasting a lot of time.

Technology and apps can be your best friend. In keeping with making a list, I like to use apps on my phone to keep me organized. I will also tell my phone to set reminders for important to-do items. I use a variety of apps to help me save money on my everyday purchases and shopping for the holidays.

Self-Care. It’s important as a mom to take time out for yourself. It could be a trip to the spa, a long nap, quiet time reading a book with your favorite drink or a quick weekend getaway. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you take time out for YOU. You are no good to anyone if you are stressed and exhausted.

Meal plan and easy dinner ideas. Another thing that helps me save time and money is to meal plan. I like to sit down on a Sunday afternoon to put together meal ideas for the week. One quick way I get dinner on the table is buying a Deli Fresh ready-to-heat pizza from Kroger.
