Meijer Meal Planning Week 9/28  : 6 Meals for $40 Bucks

For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Fall is certainly here and so are some great deals on fall favorites at Meijer.  As the weather turns cooler, check out these great recipes to make the most of the deals at Meijer this week.

Meal 1:  Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Cacciatore  $5.17 {I love Chicken Cacciatore– one of my favorite meals to make!! }

  • 2 lbs split chicken breasts
  • 1 jar Classico Pasta Sauce, any red variety
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced (pantry)
  • 1 box Mueller’s pasta, linguine

Directions:  Place the chicken in a slow cooker with garlic and sauce.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Remove the chicken and separate the meat from the bones, making sure no bones remain in the sauce.  Cut the chicken into pieces and return to the slow cooker.  Serve chicken and sauce over cooked pasta.

 

Meal 2:  Smoked Sausage with Apples, Squash, and Potatoes  $6.11

  • 2 pkgs Eckrich smoked sausage
  • 1 lb Michigan apples, cored and cubed
  • 1 small acorn squash, seeded and cubed
  • 2.5 lbs red potatoes, scrubbed and quartered

 

Directions:  Place the sausage, apples, and squash in a saute pan with ¼ C water.  Cover and simmer over medium heat until apples and squash are tender.  While the sausage cooks, place the potatoes in a large pan, cover with water and salt liberally.  Bring to a boil over high heat and boil until potatoes are tender.  Drain and serve with butter, if desired.

 

Meal 3:  Baked Tortellini Alfredo with Broccoli  $5.78

  • 1 bag Meijer frozen tortellini
  • 1 jar Classico Alfredo sauce
  • Milk (Pantry)
  • 1 pkg Green Giant frozen broccoli

Directions:  Boil the tortellini for half the time it states on the package.  Drain and place in a casserole dish with the alfredo sauce and frozen broccoli.  Cover and bake in a 375°F oven for 45 minutes.  Serve hot.

 

Meal 4:  Roasted Chicken with Squash and Rice  $5.29

  • 4 lb whole chicken
  • 1 butternut squash
  • Butter (pantry)
  • 2 C white rice

Directions:  Rinse the chicken and place in a baking dish.  Salt and pepper liberally then cover tightly with foil.  Bake in a 375°F oven for 2 hours, until the juices of the thigh runs clear.  Allow to sit 5 minutes covered before serving.  For the squash, remove the seeds and cut into 1 inch cubes.  Place in a saute pan with 3 tablespoons of butter.  Heat over medium heat until butter melts, stirring often.  Cover and allow to cook another 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until squash is tender.  Place the rice in a saucepan and cover with 4 cups water.  Bring to a simmer, cover and simmer 20 minutes, until water is absorbed and rice is tender.  Serve hot.

Meal 5:  Salmon and Kale Salad $10.82

  • 1.5 lb Salmon filets
  • 1 pkg Kale
  • 1 lb tomatoes on the vine, diced
  • 2 Michigan apples, cored and diced
  • Salad dressing of choice (Pantry)

Directions:  Place salmon on a baking sheet and bake in 425°F oven for 10-12 minutes, until the fish flakes easily with a fork.  Allow to cool and flake apart.  In bowls, arrange the remaining ingredients for each person, topping with the baked salmon.

Meal 6:  Easy Cheeseburger Mac  $6.87

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 pkgs Kraft Mac & Cheese (plus ingredients to complete per directions on pkg)
  • 1 pkg shredded cheddar

Directions:  Brown the ground beef until no pink remains; drain.  Prepare the mac & cheese per the package.  Mix in the ground beef and top with shredded cheddar.  Serve hot.

 

This week, you can make these six delicious and easy meals for only $40.04!  What a great way to save money and still have tasty meals for your family!
