Meijer Meal Planning Week 3/8: 6 Meals Under $43 Bucks (No Coupons Needed)

Spring is coming!  Time to start thinking about barbecuing in the backyard, picnics, and running through the sprinkler.  Ok, maybe it’s a little early for that, but Meijer is gearing up for spring with some fantastic sales.  Check out this great meal plan for the week that will save you big money!

For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $43 bucks, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based off of a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

Meal 1: Brats and Sauerkraut with a Simple Salad $11.60

  • 4 Meijer brats
  • 1 bag Meijer sauerkraut
  • 1 pkg pretzel brat buns
  • 1 greenhouse cucumber
  • 1 pkg grape tomatoes
  • 2 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 2 T apple cider or red wine vinegar (pantry)
  • salt (pantry)
  • pepper (pantry)

Directions: Roast the brats on a baking sheet in the oven on 425°F until cooked through, about 20 minutes.  Heat the sauerkraut in a saucepan until bubbly.  Slice the cucumber and tomatoes, place in a bowl and toss with the oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper.  Serve the brats in the pretzel buns topped with sauerkraut.

Meal 2: Orange Chicken with Green Beans and Rice  $6.39

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts
  • ½ C orange juice (pantry)
  • ½ t red pepper flakes (pantry)
  • ½ t salt (pantry)
  • 1.5 lbs fresh green beans, ends trimmed
  • 1 box Rice a Roni, any flavor

Directions:  Heat oven to 400°F.  Place chicken in a baking dish.  Pour orange juice over the top.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper flakes.  Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour or until no pink remains in the center of the chicken.  Steam green beans in a saucepan or microwave and dot with butter.  Prepare the rice as directed on the package.

Meal 3: Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup $5.24

  • 1 pkg Kraft Singles
  • 1 loaf Aunt Millie’s Healthy Goodness Bread
  • Butter (pantry)
  • 2 cans Campbell’s Tomato Soup
  • Milk (pantry)

Directions:  Heat saute or fry pan over medium heat.  Butter one side of 4 slices of bread and place, butter side down, in the pan.  Top with 2 slices of cheese for every slice of bread.  Complete the sandwiches with another slice of buttered bread, butter side up.  Cover and toast until golden brown, flip and toast the other side.  While the sandwiches are toasting, mix the soup with 2 cans of milk and heat in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming.

Meal 4: Tortellini with Sauce  $7

  • 1 bag Meijer tortellini, any variety
  • 2 jars Classico pasta sauce, any variety

Directions:  Heat a large pot of water to boiling and cook tortellini per package instructions.  Place the sauce in a saucepan and heat until simmering.  Serve the tortellini topped with the sauce.

Meal 5:  Pork Ramen Soup  $5.14

  • 2 center cut pork chops, cut into bit sized pieces
  • 1 onion, diced fine
  • 1 T olive oil (pantry)
  • 2 bricks Ramen, pork flavor
  • 1 bag Bird’s Eye peas

Directions:  Place the pork chops and onion in a large saucepan and heat with the olive oil over medium-high heat.  Saute until pork is no longer pink and onions are translucent.  Add 4 cups of water and seasoning packets from the ramen.  Heat to a boil.  Add the ramen and peas, cook until tender.  Serve hot with sliced scallions, if desired.

Meal 6:  Baked Cod and Steamed Dinner  $7.32

  • 1 lb cod, rinsed
  • lemon pepper seasoning (pantry)
  • 1 cabbage (4-5 lbs)
  • 2.5 lbs red potatoes
  • 2 onions (pantry)

Directions:  Cut the cabbage into 2 inch cubes.  Scrub and cut the potatoes in half; peel and quarter the onions.  Place the cabbage, potatoes, and onions into a large stock pot.  Add 2 cups of water and cover.  Heat to a simmer for 40 minutes.  Place the rinsed cod on a baking sheet; sprinkle liberally with lemon pepper.  Place in an oven heated to 425°F and bake 10-12 minutes, until fish flakes easily with a fork and is no longer translucent.  Serve hot.

Six meals, with leftovers, at Meijer this week for only $42.69!  What a great week to shop at Meijer!
