Meijer Meal Planning Week 12/31: 6 Meals $39 Bucks

For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based on a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those to your final price.

Meal 1: Pork Shoulder Two Ways – Night 1: Street Tacos  $13.74

  • 5 lb pork shoulder butt
  • 1 t cumin (pantry)
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced (pantry)
  • ½ t salt (pantry)
  • 1 lime, juiced (pantry)
  • 1 20 pkg La Banderita small tortillas
  • 1 jar Pace Picante salsa
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)

Directions:  Place the pork in a large slow cooker.  Season with cumin, garlic, salt, and lime.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Shred, discarding any fat and bone.  Serve in warm tortillas with salsa and onion.  Refrigerate leftover meat for next meal.

Meal 2: Pork Tamale Pie  $2.29

  • 3 C leftover shredded pork (pantry)
  • 1 C chopped onion (pantry)
  • 1 14.5 oz can Meijer petite diced tomatoes
  • ¾ C cornmeal (pantry)
  • ¼ C flour (pantry)
  • 1 C hot water (pantry)
  • 2 T melted butter (pantry)
  • ½ t baking powder (pantry)
  • ½ t salt
  • 1 C Kraft shredded sharp cheddar
  • ½ C Kraft shredded sharp cheddar

Directions:  Saute the pork and onions until onions are clear.  Add in the tomatoes and cook until saucy.  In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 C cheese.  Add in the hot water and butter.  Pour into a greased 9-inch pie pan.  Top with the meat mixture and bake in a 400°F oven for 25 minutes.  Sprinkle with remaining ½ C of cheese and bake another 2-3 minutes, until cheese is melted.  Serve with sour cream if desired.

Meal 3:  Chili Dogs  $6.38

  • 1 pkg Oscar Mayer hot dogs
  • 1 pkg Meijer hot dog buns
  • 1 can Meijer no bean chili
  • 1 bag Meijer French fries

Directions:  Broil or steam the hot dogs.  Heat the chili.  Serve the hot dogs in the buns topped with chili and any condiments desired.  Prepare the fries as directed on the package.

Meal 4:  Ground Beef and Vegetable Stew  $4.53

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)
  • 2 ribs celery, diced (pantry)
  • 2 carrots, diced (pantry)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 1 14.5 oz can Meijer diced tomatoes
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen vegetable stew blend
  • 2 bay leaves (pantry)
  • 1 t dried oregano (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:  Brown the ground beef, onion, celery, carrots, and garlic until meat is brown.  Add in the tomatoes, stew blend, seasonings, and enough water to cover all of it, plus 2 inches.  Simmer for 1 hour.  Serve with crusty bread if desired.

Meal 5:  Herb Baked Chicken with Broccoli and Rice A Roni  $5.67

  • 2 lb boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 t basil (pantry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • ½ t salt (pantry)
  • ½ t pepper (pantry)
  • 1 lb broccoli
  • 1 box Rice a Roni, any flavor (plus ingredients per package)

Directions:  Place the chicken in a baking dish and top with seasonings.  Cover with foil and bake in a 350°F oven for 1 ½ hours, until no pink remains in the thickest part of the meat.  Steam the broccoli to the desired doneness.  Prepare the rice as directed on the package.

 

Meal 6:  Pork Chops, Stuffing, and Vegetables  $5.77

  • 1 lb assorted bone-in pork chops
  • 2 boxes Meijer cornbread stuffing mix (plus ingredient per package)
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen vegetables

Directions:  Prepare the stuffing as directed.  Place in a casserole dish.  Top with pork chops and bake in a 375°F oven for 1 hour or until no pink remains near the bone of the chops.  Prepare the vegetables as directed.

This week, six homemade meals will cost only $38.38!
