Effortless Quiche Lorraine Puff in Minutes

Quiche is one of those dishes that people shy away from. Notoriously difficult to make, yet so darned delicious, quiche isn’t something people think to make for breakfast or brunch. That’s what makes Effortless Quiche Lorraine so wonderful. Using puff pastry, found in the freezer section, you avoid the hassle of making a crust, and you can make these both individually sized, or if you like, a full size pie. Effortless Quiche Lorraine takes very little time to get into the oven, and the 15 minute wait for it to bake is completely worth it. It’s one of those dishes that’s perfect not only for your average weekend morning, but even on busy holiday mornings, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Simple Ingredients for Effortless Quiche Lorraine Puff
With a base of puff pastry, you can’t really go wrong for the crust. The filling is basic, yet delectable. Eggs, heavy whipping cream, salt, and pepper form the foundation of the filling. Add flavor with your favorite things. I used applewood smoked bacon that I had cut into small pieces, fried until crispy, then wilted some dark leafy greens with. Shredded Swiss cheese adds a rich, creamy flavor that brings everything together. It’s a great way to bring your family to the table for a great breakfast that really gets everyone going.

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed in the refrigerator overnight
4 eggs
1 C heavy whipping cream
1 ½ C shredded Swiss cheese
½ t salt
¼ t pepper
5 strips bacon, cut into pieces
1 ½ C dark baby greens, such as spinach, kale, and Swiss chard

Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Roll out the puff pastry with a rolling pin and cut into quarters.
Place each quarter in a shallow tart dish.
In a bowl, whisk the eggs and cream together. Add the cheese and seasonings. Mix well.
Saute the bacon until crispy. Add the greens and allow to wilt. Remove from heat.
Place 1/4th of the bacon mixture in each tart dish.
Pour in the egg mixture, keeping it even between the dishes.
Bake 15-18 minutes, until the egg mixture is set in the middle and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
Serve warm with fruit.

Changing Up Flavors in Effortless Quiche Lorraine
You can use any flavor combination in your Effortless Quiche Lorraine. While bacon and Swiss cheese is the classic, I’ve made this with sausage and cheddar, bacon and smoked gouda, and even chorizo and a blend of Mexican cheeses. Everything works in Effortless Quiche Lorraine. Try adding veggies too. Artichoke hearts, spinach, mushrooms, and onions are my favorites, but I’ve also used leftover asparagus, roasted root vegetables, and even creamed spinach to make Effortless Quiche Lorraine a new dish that my family can adore. Get creative! Use up those leftovers that you don’t quite have enough for another meal. Anything goes with Effortless Quiche Lorraine and that helps you make individualized brunch dishes for everyone in your family.
