Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home Saves you Cash

Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home Saves you Cash

I was amazed at how big an advertising campaign was for a national coffee company and their Pumpkin Spice Latte.  I was seeing it everywhere: Facebook, Twitter, ads on the news and TV.  It never ended.  Which meant I got to think about having a Pumpkin Spice Latte a lot!  Well, I figured out how to make them at home, and it saves me so much money!  I can make myself one whenever I want, and not have to worry about getting in the car in search of a coffee house.  It’s really a win-win!

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Simple Ingredients Means a Delicious Pumpkin Spice Latte

I started with a freshly and strongly brewed cup of coffee from my favorite Sumatran coffee beans.  Brewing it strong means you’ll still get the flavor of the coffee through the cream and other ingredients.  Besides brewing it strong, I brewed it with a teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice on top of the grounds, so the coffee itself has the flavor infused into it.  I heated the half n half in the microwave, so as not to cool off the coffee when they are mixed.  This made the difference between an ok drink, and an amazing one.  Of course I topped it with a bit of whipped cream and more spices, making my Pumpkin Spice Latte fresh, amazing, and unforgettable.

  • ½ C half n half
  • 1 C hot, strong coffee brewed with 1 t pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on the grounds
  • whipped cream
  • ½ t pumpkin pie spice

Heat the half n half in a mug in the microwave for about 1 minute.

Pour in the hot coffee that has been brewed with the pumpkin spice.  Stir to mix.

Cover the top of the coffee with whipped cream and sprinkle with the remaining pumpkin pie spice.

Serve hot.

Adding Maple to Your Pumpkin Spice Latte

While I used raw sugar in my Pumpkin Spice Latte most of the time, sometimes I like to change things up a bit and add a little maple syrup to the mix.  It adds an amazing flavor that really heightens the earthiness of the pumpkin pie spice, giving you a delicious twist on a fall favorite.  Whether you make the original version, or bump up the flavor with a bit of maple syrup, Pumpkin Spice Latte will become your favorite drink of Autumn.
